The 2011 Jetta represents a redesign from prior generations, moving away from the shared Golf architecture toward Volkswagens New Compact Sedan platform. This shift allowed for a more distinct styling, additional interior space, and a competitive compact-sedan form. Under the hood, trim-dependent engine options ranged from a modest 2.0 L four-cylinder producing about 115 hp in base models to a 2.5 L five-cylinder engine rated at 170 hp in higher trims. The Jetta is front-wheel drive and in its various configurations achieves combined fuel economy figures in the mid-20s to low-30s mpg range.
